Great for family and children.

This is the type of museum in which you interact with the exhibits having the opportunity to intender how science works. Very well equipped, clean, organized, huge space, various attractions, three spacious floors, large parking lot, finally, a great attraction in Sun Island, Harbin.

    very enjoyable day (free entry)
We had a very enjoyable day here. It is a good place to spend a few hours if you have them, but probably not a must-see if you are here on a short visit and want to do sightseeing. We caught the cable car over from near the flood control monument, then walked across the island to the museum. The museum is in a large and modern building, with pretty cool design. Entry was FREE, including a free locker for your coats (20 kuai refundable key deposit). We had some lunch from the cafeteria which had limited choice and was slightly overpriced, but hey, what museum food isn't? We really enjoyed the weird sweet coffee that came out of a machine :-> There are plenty of exhibitions, and there were no line-ups even though there were plenty of people around. Most of the exhibitions are interactive and at least half have English instructions. Some were not working, but those functional, English captioned exhibitions were enough to keep my interest for a few hours. When I was there there were several short films screened in 4D in the small dome. 4D means that you strap into a chair that shakes you all about. Although there were small children in the cinema I think that it would be quite scary for kids, as the combination of the 3D (with glasses) and the chair moving has you feeling like things are being thrown at you and also that you are falling etc. Tickets were 25 kuai each for a 12 minute film. It is possible to combine a visit to this museum with a walk back across the river by bridge (we did), but that is maybe best kept to summer, the fitter amoungst us, and also on days that are not too windy.

    Free Entrance for Students
We were walking around in Sun Island and found this place accidentally, thinking it would be nice to enter for a while if the price was okay. Turns out we got free tickets, which may be caused of we are students in China. The inside is clean and spacious and you can interact with lots of science works. Furthermore they have IMAX and 4D movie but it costs you around 30-40 and you kinda need to be at the right time to be able to watch it.
