Harbin Ice and Snow World, Heilongjiang, China

4.5 (1.502 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Harbin Amusement & Theme Parks

Definitely a visual feast

I visited this place on Christmas day around 4:30pm and it was getting crowded. Upon entering the theme park, I was amazed by the colorful illuminated ice buildings & sculptures. I spent 3 hours visiting the entire place. Suggest you do not join a group tour, as I heard a guide giving a local group only 1 hour to explore the place. There are a few eateries such as KFC, but they are really crowded. In addition to the meals & snacks, these places are great to take a break from the freezing weather. Be warned that the ice slides attract long queues. The queues were confusing. I soon realised there were 3 queues, with 3 different slide levels. My estimates is the shortest slide queue is about 30 mins, the medium slide queue is 1 hour while the most popular longest slide queue is 2 to 3 hours. Hence, if you are keen, I suggest you come before 3pm and join the queue for the longest slide. By then, the sky will be dark and the ice buildings will be fully lit up.

    Amazing experience with parents
I went in December 2019, its amazing experience. Basically there are 2 places where one can visit in Harbin. The Ice and snow world has huge ice building and there is another place very near, which has snow statues. Both have SEPARATE tickets. And the frozen Shonghua river is also nearby. Do have fun while walking and running on Shonghua river. Its great. And Shonghua river is free of cost. I went with my parents and we didn't require heating pads. They are useless, just keep 3 layer clothing with a fat outer jacket and purchase it from Gap or Decathlon on India. It should be good. Overall amazing. It unofficially opens in last week of December. I went in last week 30-31st December 2019 I was here.

Fairyland visit to Harbin and beautiful Volga Manor
On January 7, we celebrated my birthday in Harbin to see the beautifully carved ice sculptures displayed on the river. It is spectacular and worth braving the minus 20 degrees C weather! Both day and night views were lovely, when it is lighted, the icy sculptures turned to a colourful fairyland! Reflects on how much work and resilience had been put into achieving this beautiful Ice and Snow World. My memories were enhanced with the carefully planned schedule with Wonder from China Discovery. WE had a good guide and driver, both had ensured we stay warm. For those who are in China this is one of the must see and experience location. We had done Beijing, Xian, GUilin also with Wonder which were all very well customised to our requirement. We always had good drivers and tour guides. In Harbin, Helen or guide even brought heated sole pads to keep us warm and made an album of the day's trip. The other worthwhile visits are Siberian Tiger Park, Sun Island and definitely Volga Manor.
