Worth the Steep Climb.

Dec is a good time to do this. Nice and cool, no other tourists. It's quite a long steep climb to the top. Took us 4-5 hours round trip. 7 year old managed it fine, but might be tough for younger kids. Last section involves pulling yourself up with chains- not suitable for kids. Overall a great experience walking through the forest. Amazing trees. 50rmb entrance (I think) well worth it. Only downer was the crappy piped music that comes at you from fake rocks all the way to the top!

    Awesome views, great hike!
Very cool place. Bring plenty of water and snacks to last. We are of moderate fitness and took about 2-3 hours to reach the very top. Coming down was a lot faster. Pro-tip to go early (we started the hike at 9) as when we were coming down, it started to get very crowded, noisy and hot. Bring grippy gloves if you're inexperienced as the climb to the top is steep. Hold the firm handles at the side instead of the loose metal chains to make it easier. The only gripe is the journey there is too long. For budget travellers, take the high speed rail from Meilan airport to Lingshui stop (72 yuan), then I recommend to take a taxi direct to the hotel (150-200 yuan) for approx 1.5hrs. You can't go from the airport and do the hike in a day. In the morning, get the hotel to call the park for you, return trip via buggy to the entrance (about 5km away) is 30 yuan. For the really budget travellers, you can take the pink public bus (15 yuan?) To baoting from lingshui before taking another public bus no. 2 (3 yuan) up the hill to where the hotels are. Not worth the hassle really. Private transport from baoting to lingshui cost around 30 yuan and takes 1 hour. As always, get ready to haggle for all forms of taxi and private transport.

    Nice hike
The trail to the summit is very well maintained. There are resting places, toilets, etc. It's 2,3km long, but most of it are the stone stairs. In total as many as 3770 of them. The return trip takes about 3,5h. If you are in a good shape, maybe less but at least 2,5h. There is a good view from the summit. The last 50m there are no stairs, you pull to the top holding steel chains. It's safe, but may be hard for seniors and younger kids. There is a shuttle to the hotels in the area.
