Worth visiting just for the view
The rainforest is about an hour and a half from Sanya but well worth travelling the distance for some breathtaking view and scenery. There are some many plants and animals on view that you'll need lots of time to appreciate everything. You can get there by bus but you're better off taking a car or arranging a tour. It's easy to get lost in the park so you could get a guide. Bring water, sun block, insect repellent, sun glasses and wear comfortable shoes. Enjoy the fresh air.

Beautiful views if you're prepared to work hard
If you don't want to do the touristy sites while in Hainan, and provided you have a car - a car is an absolute prerequisite to come here - this is a refreshing getaway from the crowds. It's a huge park with many different points of interest. We only had time to climb the highest peak, an hour's climb of 1800m. It was tiring but worth it, with a viewing platform up in the clouds. The weather changes very quickly, and we got drenched - after all, this is a RAIN forest - but the rain and sun created a beautiful rainbow. Tickets cost 60 yuan per person, and you could spend a whole day here seeing all the scenic spots. Remember that you need a car. It's impossible to walk the park.
