History and nature rolled into one
Just visited Yuexiu Park today and the park was so huge, it took up about 3 to 4 hours to cover the area including short rests in between to soak in the views and relax, which anyone should stop to do when they visit this place. The park has full of lush greenery and includes many of Guangzhou's famous historical landmarks, so it's quite worth the visit. Speakers are set up all around the park playing relaxing Chinese music as you stroll along. Getting there is easy, you can take the Guangzhou metro train directly to the main entrance of the park, or if you're visiting Sun Yat Sen Memorial (where the train stops as well), there's an entrance to the park right next to it. I did the latter, so from the memorial and upon entering the park, I just walked and among the landmarks I came across in the park were: 1) The Sun Yat Sen monument - near the entrance next to the memorial, and you have to climb over 100 stairs to get to it (consider it good exercise) 2) The Guangzhou Musuem - Located around the centre of the park. Entry fee is RMB10 to visit this 4 level museum which houses relics from the various Chinese dynasties. I personally did not find it that interesting as the arrangement of items felt pretty random which not much historical timeline explained. 3) The Ancient City Wall - Walk around the musuem to see the wall, it looks cool and pretty ancient 4) The 5 Rams Statue - Behind the museum is a path leading to the statue. Not much ado except that it's a big statue of 5 rams Yuexiu Park also includes a few waterfalls, some lakes where you can rent a paddle boat and enjoy boating in the lakes, as well as some interesting stone sculptures. There are many other lesser known places to visit within the park itself and even 4 hours was not enough to cover it all. Great place for nature and history lovers.

    Statue of the five rams/goats
The stories around the five rams (or are they goats) is fascinating. The are regarded as saviors of the city. It is a a bit of an uphill walk to get to the upper level where the statue is located. I suggest taking the shuttle one way, and enjoying the leisurely sightseeing on the other trip.
