    Spectacular scenery, worth going
    Zhaoqing has many scenic areas, Xinghu is one of the most attractive ones. The tranquility, the greenery are a pleasant escape from the City. Certainly an enjoyable walk to get there, you won't regret it.

    Classical scenery
    We walked to the lake from our hotel which was nearby. We came in the east gate and didn't see anyone collecting gate fees. The area is huge and the hills have that rock structure that one sees in Chinese paintings. Unfortunately someone persuaded us to ride on their motorbike "bus" which then instead of taking us around the lake as they said, took to the streets and wanted to drive outside the lake! For that we could have taken a bus. And then he insisted on his 40 RMB payment which we refused when we got off once we realised what was happening. I think there are bikes for hire but they must be from another entrance.
