    Very nice mountain retreat
I took the cable car up. There is no Metro station near the base where the cable car goes up. But, taxi is cheap in China. Then, I walked to the Moxing Summit from there. It is about 1-1.5km up from where the cable car ends. There is also a tourist shuttle (paid, most possibly around 20 RMB to go up, 10 RMB to come down in Dec'19). After that, I walked about 3.5km down and took the shuttle. You can take the shuttle right from outside the Summit entrance (fee was 5 RMB) to go down but I thoroughly enjoyed the walk down. Nature is nature. It heals. The views are great. If you want some respite from the busy city, go to Baiyun, the White Clouds, Mountains. You will love it too.

Pleasant place to hike out of main city
I went to BaiYun Mountain with my family, though we took separate paths up. I began earlier in the morning in 云溪生态公园 and entered the BaiYun Mountain area by paying 5 yuan at gate near the back of the 云溪 park. This began a trail through the jungle woods which stretched for quite a while and went up the side of the mountain. It took me about 90 minutes with some birding along the way. It is a fairly rigorous hike, especially the last part which takes you toward the summit where there are stretches of stairs. My family came up the chairlift from the South entrance (chairlift opens at 9am) after this we met up and walked around a bit of the park. There certainly are plenty of places to wander though also a fair number of people. It is not secluded.
