Nationaal Park Lauwersmeer, Groningen Province, The Netherlands
4.5 (72 reviews) Spent More than 3 hours Ranking #1 in Lauwersoog National Parks
Wonderful area
Been coming here for a few years now. And love it at any time of the year. Summer months are best though. For rest and non, or few tourists, the other months are best. Many nature walks available, good for cycling, sailing, heading over to the island of Schiermonnikoog, birdwatching. So much to do. Also the area is one of 2 dark sky parks in the Netherlands, so good for some stargazing or astrophotography (with unobscured views) in otherwise very lightpolluted Netherlands.

Enjoy the Nature
60 km2 is quite a large park. Despite mostly water, it's not less beautiful. It is located by the border of Friesland and Groningen. We visited the north part of the park and watching the water bird.

Nice place to rent a bike
We took a ferry to spend a day at this island. We rented a tandem bike since my wife can’t ride alone. It’s a great place to visit the dunes, the forest and enjoy the views. In the village there are places to have a lunch, but mementos and catch a ferry back to the mainland.
