Lovely Winter Walk
Walked round anti-clockwise from Beach Pub. Lovely walk on a crisp sunny winter’s midweek day with few people about. First half better than second, which was largely along the road. There’s a café half way round. Great views of the moors throughout the walk. Beware parking at the pub. The machine only gives out 1 hour tickets, despite saying you could get 3. Have a coffee in the pub and you get 2 hours free.

Wonderful place to be.
We had some friends call over for a social distancing visit,so rather than sit in the house or call in at the local park,i decided to show them Hollingworth Lake. One friend had been there many years ago,but his wife hadn't, the weather was nice, not to hot for walking the lake. We parked in the carpark,in the dip close to the Winepress, plenty of spaces & not overly priced for the time we were there. With the path around the lake being relatively flat,it's quite an easy walk. Plenty of people around doing the same thing & enjoying the summer sunshine, we passed the little play area, which was busy, then onto the cafe, where we took a quick pit stop, our friends used the cafe for a burger, chips, soft drink & a coffee(not sure how much) we had brought our own snacks, eating whilst taking in the great views..Usually a lot going on,sailing & the pleasure boat going round, but current time, the watersports aren't on. We carried on following the path until we reached the beach side,a quick icecream stop to cool us down, bringing a bag of bread to feel the many ducks & geese.. The lake was busy, but not so busy that we couldn't enjoy our time there, most of all our friends also enjoyed their time out.

Pleasant couple of hours visit
Hadn't been here for many years, decided to give it a go on a windy but dry Sunday in earlyJune. Had never walked round the whole lake before but we were glad we did today, the views are lovely, we even saw a rare great white eagret in the bird hide round the other side of the lake. The path is fairly flat & smooth so is suitable for everyone, there's a caravan & camper van park, Pavilion cafe with toilets half way round, boats & plenty of birds to see etc. Took us about an hour & a quarter to walk with a stop on a bench to enjoy the views, we then had a nice lunch at Mr Thomas' fish and chip restaurant then our son had a good time at the little arcade, it was an enjoyable day out & we will return in future, we were lucky to get parked in the car park nearest the lake, a very reasonable £2 for 4 hours, you will definitely struggle for places on a hotter day or a Bank Holiday though I think.
