Pointe d'Esny, Mauritius

4.5 (260 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Grand Port District Bodies of Water • Beaches

Beautiful but windy

Everything about this beach is a pleasure to the eyes: the entry through a narrow passage, the turquoise water, thin white sand, and last but not least the Eastern mountains that you can see far away from the beach. The place is usually not too crowded so if you’re seeking tranquility it would be one of the best spots of the region. The only downside is that the place is quite windy, which can become annoying as you spend time there.

    Paradise Beach Luxury Apartments
Staying at Paradise Beach Luxury Apartments was an absolute pleasure. We were 6 adults. The information booklet that is available is very helpful. The managing agents run a superb ship. We stayed in B2 on the ground floor and found the finishes to be fantastic. The apartment was well appointed with an amazing lady who looked after us. We could walk out onto the grass and then onto the beach. A spectacular pool. Pointe d ' Esny is a spectacular beach. This side of the island is windy compared to Trou Aux Biches area. Whilst we were there for the week we experienced a little rain, except for one day in which it belted down, the wind was a regular thing however it did not dampen our holiday . If you are into wind sports this is a must as lots of windsurfers and kite surfers like to come to.Every day we could swim and snorkeling was great. Beaches are beautiful, sands are white. Both of my sons did a lot of snorkeling. My one son dived twice during this period. We caught the local bus outside of the apartments and paid Rs20 per person one way to blue bay.Blue Bay is an absolute must it is at a marine reserve with glass bottom boats available to see the sea life Rs1800 for the boat. Absolutely stunning and worthwhile. We found taxis cheaper on this side of the island. Mahebourgh which is close by has a market but it is fresh produce and not the tourist markets one can find in Quatre Bornes. The supermarket in Pointe d ' Esny area is London Way that is sufficient and meets ones needs. The one thing I can honestly say is that the factory shops are a waste of time and money.Seriously don't waste valuable holiday time doing this excursion. We spent a day going to Ile Aux Cerfs. We took a taxi (6seater)up there which was Rs3000 there and back . The cost per person to Ile Aux Cerfs is Rs1000 which includes a speed boat ride to the island, lunch which is chicken, fish, salad and dessert included as well is soft drinks and beers. Then a ride out to the waterfall. On the island there is a craft market and one can buy drinks there as well BUT I must mention the prices for drinks are absolutely ridiculous. For ×3 coconut milkshakes, 1 mango juice x4 beers came to Rs3100. Would I go back... Paradise Beach Luxury Apartments ...YES 10/10 Pointe d ' Esny. ..YES 10/10 Blue Bay...YES 10/10 Mahebourgh market... NO 3/10 (not my scene) Ile Aux Cerfs. ..NO 7/10 (done it )

    Brilliant snorkelling!
Amazing secluded snorkelling between Pointe d'Esny and Ile aux Aigrettes, just watch out for boats and kite boarders. Hardly any one else comes here and there is amazing reef if you just head a 100m out. Flippers are a must in the strong current. Area is nicely local and not too touristy. Fairly quiet. Ile aux Aigrettes is interesting but a bit expensive for the small tour although the proceeds go towards conservation.
