Even with a very low water level, one can still enjoy the trails and view of the chateau
As we were exploring the area, and wishing for about an hour-long walk (the hike from the designated parking lot to the chateau ruins takes less than 10 minutes), we decided to spend some time below and walk along the lake. Well-marked trails. This is an artificial lake and apparently well-appreciated by fishermen, although with the drought conditions, it is likely that the fishing is not that great. While walking one comes upon an enigmatic stone marker that looks like a mileage or route designator, and also a large upright stone that would normally be called a menhir, although perhaps it was transported here from elsewhere to make the trail more interesting. In any event, an hour or so well spent before heading off.

    Quiet getaway corner
Reservoir which you can walk on the dam and around the edge in the forest. Few bits of small beach to sit on. Unlike UK parking was FREE and you had no amenities at all - not even an ice-cream van or hot dog stall. Certainly no interpretation centre or national trust rip off shop. You are on your own folks. Sandwiches and thermos have to be imported.
