Sleepy town
We visited the point where the lake piso empties into the Atlantic Ocean. It doesn’t seem like much is going on in this town. It might be a cool place to be away from the city. We stopped at Nana Lodge - looked like a great place to stay overnight.

Former US WW2 Float Plane Base
This is a huge lagoon, 40 square miles of salty water, but inland from the ocean. It has a wide variety of ocean fish, there is an incredible variety of wildlife along its shores, including sea-birds. The town of Roberstport was a US Submarine base in WW2, and the town of Talla was a US WW2 Float plane base. There are still remains of sailing ships from long ago and if you look closely you will find old cannons from these ships. A sad part of the history is that slaves were loaded on ships at the town of Sawilo. Its just a half day drive from Monrovia. Most of the distance is paved roads, but the last 20+ miles were not paved on my last trip a couple of years ago. Some of the best surfing in the world is on the Atlantic off Robertsport.
