Took early morning walk around square and saw old homes easy walk side walk uneven so you must've careful about 1 mi around area lots of history firehouse,jail,courthouse, courthouse square neat old filling station

Historic
My husband and I were driving through Gonzales and decided to take a 30 minute break. We discovered there are 2 town squares caddy corner from each other. One is Texas Heroes Square and the other is the main town square. Both squares are historic and interesting. The Texas Heroes Square has a huge Texas ‘Come And Get It’ Flag, a Andrew Ponton historical marker/sign, a large park area and lots of parking (even for my truck and travel trailer). The 1896 historic courthouse is on the corner where the two squares meet. The historic 1887 jail house is on the main square. Shops and restaurants can be found on both squares. It is certain worth a visit.

So Much History and So Much To do
This monument is breathtaking, especially with the giant flag fluttering overhead. There's a BBQ place, The Market, right behind it that's been serving for over 50 years. Near that is the Long Branch Saloon, a wild west saloon whose swinging doors have been welcoming folks to this 1859 building since 1959. They also offer a ghost tour of Gonzales. Gonzales has so much to offer, hotels in walking distance from the restuarants, shops, museums and nightlfe.
