Tybee Island Beach, Georgia, United States

Tybee Beach

The beaches on Tybee are quite beautiful with deep stretches of white sand with sand dunes as their backdrop. The water is reasonably clear, suitable for swimming and snorkeling. Generally, the slope from shallow to deep water is gradual, so the kids can have a wonderful, safe time too. If you don't stay at a facility on the beach where parking is free, plan to pay $3.50 per hour during your time you spend at the beach. Also, you are not allowed on the sand dunes!

    Good beach
Great long beach. We parked in town near Center st and walked across the road to the beach. Probably close to a 1/2 hour drive from Savannah with the traffic and paid $10 to the City of Tybee for street parking.

    Very relaxing
While in Savannah, my mom, teenage daughter, and I left our hotel around 5:30pm and headed for Tybee Island. We so enjoyed the non-commercialized, uncrowded atmosphere. The Tybee Island Lighthouse is right at the public beach access parking lot (parking was only $0.50), and the lighthouse made a beautiful backdrop with its light lit at sunset. My mom cannot walk long distances and so enjoyed the swing. A huge THANK YOU to the ones who placed the swing there. If in Savannah, a trip to Tybee Island Beach is highly recommended.
