Efficient and very clean
The Gautrain is a very reliable mode of transport in my experience. It is also far cheaper than trains in the uk that I’m used to. Eating and drinking is not allowed on the trains and that results in very clean trains. Which is lovely but annoying when you’re hungry and obv can’t eat on board. The trains run every 20 minutes on weekdays but on weekends w found that after 4pm that altered to every 30 minutes.

First World experience on Gautrain
This was before Covid but I have only now gotten my life back in order enough to say what a convenient, top notch experience I had on Gautrain traveling between Pretoria and Johannesburg International Airport and back on return. On time, convenient, easy, safe, and the step-over inside the airport worked perfectly. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the price is HIGHER than I paid for that kind of service overseas, even despite the exchange rate. In fact, in Britain the hotels were more affordable, the food was cheaper, the car rental was less than half what it is in Johannesburg. But to at least receive top notch service from Gautrain was inspiring and worth it, much better than driving and parking oneself at the airport.
