Parque de la Alameda, Galicia, Spain

Miradoiro da Catedral
This large, lovely park borders the old town and was only a short stroll from my hotel. The park is much more than just a green space, with beautiful monuments, sculptured gardens, and the most magnificent view of the Cathedral’s west façade from the Miradoiro da Catedral. Another highlight – the delightfully contemporary sculpture of As Duas Marias.

Historical Park
This is a historical park in Santiago. It is like the retiro park in Madrid, but at a small scale. There are two churches inside: Saint Suzanne and Our Lady of the Pilar. There are many statues, like the one dedicated to Rosalia de Castro, the famous Galician poet. Another good thing is the lookout from the right side of the park, with magnificent views of the cathedral.

Be sure to walk to the back of the park
This is a very large, beautiful park. The front part of the park is quite busy with a lot of people. There are a lot of benches under the tree lined walkway and ponds with fountains. Walk towards the back of the park and you will find it much quieter with impressive flower gardens and amazingly large trees. You’ll also see a number of statues and some great look out areas.
