Ourense Thermal Springs, Galicia, Spain

4.5 (878 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Province of Ourense Hot Springs & Geysers

A very pleasant Onsen type hot spring experience.

Only Termas de Outariz are open. Park at Muino da Veg, much closer than Outariz/Reza. Signposted and paved all the way to the parking. Google maps does not know it, but Waze finds the way. Go when they open when it is less busy.

    Relaxing experience
Fantastic experience. Excellent value at 5 euros. There are numerous pools, some inside and the majority outside. Spotlessly clean and well run. Staff very helpful and you can hire flip flops if you don’t have any with you. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would rate it as one of the best thermal pools we have visited.

Hot springs of Ourense - the reason to come
First of all, this listing mixes up a lot of different things. There is the original Roman Bath in the old city. That is historically interesting and has some public pools, but certainly is not the place to go take a dip. The modern baths are along the Mino River downstream from town. The first set of baths are just after the new bridge. It is a short walk from downtown. They are small, but in a nice setting along the river. They are quite popular with locals. The next baths are a bit further down but not much to them. It seems to be a place people come with buckets to get the water only. The farthest baths are the best by far. I went as far as Termas de Mino and there were great pools right down by the river. Out ariz was just a little farther along. There is the option of paying to go inside spas as well, but if you bring your bathing suit, why pay? Even so, the fee for the spas is quite low (maybe 5 euros). Overall, it is a great walk along the river and something unique in Spain. More like a Japanese experience than Spanish really....
