Truly a spiritual experience
Lugo is a memorable city and its cathedral is among the most beautiful in northern Spain rivalling Santiago de Compostela on the inside. Certainly take the time to visit Lugo and put an hour or two aside for the cathedral and environs.

Impressive Cathedral...
Very beautiful Cathedral, ornate and imposing.....although not religious there is no doubt that the inside was incredible with a real sense of calm. A service was in progress but visitors were still allowed to walk around, respectfully, and take in the quite intimate atmosphere! A visit to a Abbey or Cathedral in any city is always a 'must' but Catedral de Lugo is not one to miss!

Not the most famous cathedral, but it is really beautiful
It´s not huge, but impressive. Perhaps this is not one of the cathedrals you´ve heard of a lot compared to others, but don´t miss it if you are in the city. Although the main facade is clearly neoclassical, once you enter the temple you´ll see that there is a mixture of styles, being this characteristic also in the side areas. One original trait in this temple is that it seems to be divided internally in separated parts. The main atractive of this building is that it seems "to have that something" that many other monuments lack. So, if you are a bit short of time on your stay in Lugo, focus on to the Cathedral, the Roman Walls and the less monumental but nice Plaza Mayor to make the most of your visit.
