Take a walk, take a walk on a boardwalk!

Take a walk, take a walk on a boardwalk! Watch the iguanas fight in the mud, plus don’t step on the iguanas that rest on the boardwalk! Fantastic place to walk, linger and walk again. There might be flamingos right around the corner. Take your lunch, rest, watch, be alert. This place is a special type of crazy!

Very beautiful walk along the trail to see several lagoons, flamingos, iguanas and tortoises
Go to the end of Puerto Villamil, just past Iguana Crossing and turn right to walk down the boardwalk. Continue on the walk to the end. You will pass sea iguanas and a number of ponds (lagoons) that have flamingos. The walk itself takes maybe 30-40 minutes, but it is very pretty and well worth it. Be careful with the ‘little apple’ trees – there is a sign that points them out. The fruit is deadly and a guide said that even the sap from the leaves or bark is 10 times worse than poison oak. So just avoid the tree altogether. At the end of the walk is the tortoise sanctuary. When you are ready to leave the sanctuary, rather than go back on the path, walk up to the main (car) street and turn right. Walk maybe 2-3 minutes and you will see an overlook for another lagoon that, when we were there, had numerous flamingos. This is worth seeing, especially since it is just a few minutes from the tortoise sanctuary. Once done, return back through the path.

    Flamingoes Galore
Very nice lagoon filled with flamingoes and other birds. The walkway is shared with marine iguanas, that use it to get to/from the ocean. Very nice spot.
