Really informative history of Odense City Life
Don’t miss a visit to the culture-historical museum Møntergarden, where the old houses and picturesque courtyards look as they did in Andersen’s age. The museum features a kaleidoscopic exhibition about Funen from ancient times up to the present day as well as special exhibitions with archaeological finds and culture-historical themes. Here you will also find Møntergarden’s museum for children! When little Hans Christian run around in wooden clogs, there were lots of children in the small backyards of Odense. Just as in the Children’s Backyard: a miniature urban environment from the 19th century with hens, water pump, clothes to dress up in and other fun activities.

A nice way to while away a Sunday.
I visited the museum at the end of a 6 week stay on Odense. I was lucky to go during a quiet period so my view of the exhibits was uninterrupted. I did get a bit of a fright when I reached the WWII exhibit - I was alone in the exhibit and suddenly air raid sirens started going off, but otherwise this was a very peaceful day out. I even spent some time in the courtyard treehouse

Average museum
While I really liked tiny apartments and workshops full of very interesting things and looking like their inhabitants left just a few minutes ago the exhibition in the main building made a bit disorderly impression to me. Although there were interesting artefacts I didn't get what the authors wanted to say.
