Great Views and Big Cannon
The fort is worth making a trip to either for the spectacular ocean views, the history and/or the giant cannon. Plan to spend about an hour or two here and make sure you check out everything as there are is good signs and posters but some of the interesting facts are a little hidden. You can get very close to the large cannon and even check out the ammunition that it use to blast off into the sea. Price to enter for adults is 25 yuan and they have a show at 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. The bathrooms are clean and are a great place to change before heading down to the nearby Baicheng Beach!

Fort with Views
The fort was accessible via a nearby parking lot or a short walk from the beach closest to Xiamen University. The fort itself was in decent shape with evidence of recent renovations mostly along the sea wall. The views from the top of the fort were quite nice with expansive views of the sea and distant islands. Various fort buildings had interesting exhibits. One of the main attractions was the massive Krupp canon that was installed during the Qing Dynasty and used to protect the China coastline. There were also a lot more examples of military hardware and ammunition scattered throughout the fort.

World's Largest Cannon
Huli Hill Fort on the beach behind XMU, has long been considered the door of Xiamen. The Hulishan Cannon platform is divided into three parts, the battlement area, the barracks area, and the back mountain area. The structure is semi-blockhouse and semi- city wall, with a combination architecture style of both European and Ming and Qing Dynasties .
