Cute & interesting ride towards the most east of the island “de Balg” with friends and their children. It took about 45 minutes to get there. In the distance we could see some seals on a nearby bank.

Worth the trip
A trip to the island is not complete without travelling the vast, never-ending beach to the desolate easternmost tip. The 2 hour round trip gives you the impression Schiermonnikoog is the size of Cyprus. The charge is hefty at 13 euros for adults and 9 euros for kids 3-18, but we thought it was worth it. You must reserve at the visitor's center at the base of the white lighthouse at least a day in advance, because the Express does tend to sell out. And don't forget to bring your own refreshments and there's no toilet on the Express - and nothing to squat behind! Audio commentary during the trip in Dutch and German.
