Downtown Franklin was a blast to wander in and out of so many different types of stores, including antiques, art, gifts, boutiques, bath, oils, etc.! I really enjoyed the historic Landmark Booksellers store and could have spent hours and much $$$ there, but they didn't like my young grandson so his parents wanted to moved along. The ice cream stores were wonderful with many unique flavors, and the town square was so classic with historic cannons and signs to explain the history. My favorite meal while there was at Izzy's. The server was so friendly and brought water for our dogs. We loved sitting outside on the patio. And the hot chicken on a waffle with bacon jam was fantastic, better than any we had in Nashville! This is such a wonderful community I would like to return just to check out Franklin and maybe the real estate!

A charming town with loads of Civil War history.
We, unlike a recent reviewer, actually think Franklin is one of the most charming small towns we have visited. And we come here a number of times. Sure some of the shops are pricey but there’s still a lot to love about the hospitality of the people, the unusual finds, the restaurants, the architecture, and the history of the Civil War here. Where many small towns are barely surviving Franklin thrives. It probably helps with its proximity to Nashville and the fact that it was named at one time as having the second highest per capita income in the nation. Then again as a Civil War buff I am drawn to this community.
