Outstanding exhibit!

Sprawling over 10,000 square feet, the John Wayne: An American Experience exhibit is structured to give you an intimate tour of the life of John Wayne. Starting with his early childhood and career, each room highlights an aspect of The Duke’s legacy. For the film aficionados, an extensive gallery called the “Life on Screen” highlights the most iconic film props and costumes. In the “America, Why I Love Her” gallery, guests can immerse themselves in patriotism through Grammy-nominated original poems, recited by John Wayne. All patrons will have exclusive access to never-before seen family photos and correspondences which have been thoughtfully curated by the Wayne family in order to give guests a holistic view of the icon, whose values translate both on the silver screen and off.

    We love John Wayne!
We both grew up watching John Wayne, dreaming of either being him or being rescued by him. ? So, when we were exploring the Fort Worth Stockyards and stumbled across this, we decided to go. It’s a small museum, but it was a walk down memory lane. From seeing his eyepatch worn in True Grit to some of his hats to even more of his movie outfits, we had fun seeing it all. We listened to “America, How I Love Her” (remembering it from our childhood) and were touched by all of the unopened mail that people still send (and it’s slowly being opened and displayed at the museum). The only downside was it’s kinda pricy for the size of the museum. But, if you’re a John Wayne fan, you’ll love it!

For true Duke fans, unexpectedly emotional
When I came upon all the movie costumes standing there, silently, like all my childhood heroes assembled before me, I wept like a baby. Idk, just an emotional overwhelm. I grew up watching every one of his movies, as my Dad was such a fan. Then, later in life, my father-in+law was also a huge fan who gifted us his framed JW painting upon his death. A world class museum. Great, helpful, friendly staff. Loved it.
