this is the best place i have found that was all around positive and lovely
we went fishing in this area and hiking in the surrounding area. this place was like stepping back into time to wild Florida. i regret ever moving away from this place. the people are nice the amount of woodsy area, and fishing areas, and hiking is astonishing. Hernando county beats Pinellas county in almost all areas better fishing areas, better hiking trails ,more nature nicer people less traffic. the one important thing to remark on is the water areas in this area like pirate point, and fort island has not been developed it still is white sands, calm waters ,and all the friendly people showing you where to go. hands down a lovely place to be.

A look into coastal Florida wilderness and what old Florida looked like.
This may not be for all, but if you love nature and are attracted to the west Florida marshlands and their tributaries connecting with the Gulf of Mexico, and the many water fowl native to these areas, you will enjoy this area. There are numerous places to go kayaking, bird watching, fishing, or plying photography skills. There is a little seafood restaurant, near the end of the road just before crossing the narrow causeway to the little park and boat ramp, which I recommend not missing if your interest takes you that far.

Boat launch ot the end of the long winding and curving road.
Boat launch at the end of road, Kayak fishers were launching and small boats ready to go. The lot isn't paved but it is useful, Small picnic area too..and a porta potty!
