A Must, Any Sunday You're At Treasure Island

The Treasure Island Drum Circle is a must do! I didn't say "must see" because it is definitely an event you need to experience and participate in. It's held on Sunday afternoons on the beach, behind Sloppy Joe's. It was just South of the big slide the two times I went and best of all, it's absolutely free. We headed over with a cooler, blankets and chairs around 4pm and the drummers were already starting to play, Don't forget to bring a drum, something to bang on or something to shake, and feel free to get up to dance. The drums are played until the sun sets into the Gulf and then, "Boom", it's over.

    Awesome time
This is the most amazing experience ever. Every Sunday you can meet ppl who just wanna love life and dance to the beat of their own drum....literally. The people I met here were all so very kind and welcoming. I am black so I thought there would not be anyone like me but I was highly mistaken. Black, Asian, white, Spanish etc were all there. Kids and adults. All bringing beach items and noise makers. Painted faces and smiles to match. Best thing to do on a Sunday.

    Interesting Experience
This was a pretty laid-back event but definitely something to do on the beach on Sunday evening. I imagine during some times of the year it would be better attended. It started about 4:30 and we left around sunset, but I think it may have continued for awhile after that. If in the area we would probably go again as it was only about .7 mile from our resort and a pleasant walk on a nice evening. It happened that an international sand sculpture contest had finished up the week before and the amazing sand structures were still standing strong so that was fun also.
