Tomoka State Park, Florida, United States

Interesting Park

We were surprised there were no maps available or posted anywhere. Instead, we used the GPS, which did of course work. There's an easy trail there with some interesting trees. Ample seating and picnic areas as well as clean and accessible restrooms. The site is well-maintained. There's also river access, which is nice even if you just choose to look out across the area. The only drawback was the dirt road, which is full of potholes! Even at the posted speed limit of 15 mph, our vehicle took some hard hits. Just something to be aware of.

    Good camp for biking
We stayed here for 10 days in our fifth wheel. We enjoyed riding our bikes on the roads & paths. We were glad we had them. The store is far from the campground. We went to the store once. People in there not wearing masks & cashier not friendly so we never returned. We kayaked once while here. We fished a lot & liked the docks over the water that we could fish from. Fishing was pretty good here. There’s a bike path across the rd from campground entrance. It’s beautiful but only 1 1/2 miles long I think. Biking on the rd to the north seems dangerous. Lots of traffic both ways. Some of the campsites look good. Ours was very close to our neighbor. The washers & dryers worked well. The first few days we were here was a bad first impression. There were campers several sites away with music blasting all day to well past midnight. No one enforces quiet time here. The rangers don’t patrol & the camp hosts just clean & maintain sites. The day shift rangers seem annoyed if you ask them anything. They won’t give out camp maps d/t covid yet don’t even wear masks. And every other park in the state gives out maps. Don’t know if we’ll return here.

    Nice Enough RV Park
Easy to find off the Ormond Scenic Loop, check in was smooth. The campsites are accessed via a large loop. Most sites are not level front to back and/ or side to side. They are sugar sand off the sugar sand road (messy after it rains). The heavily treed park has sites that are smaller and closer together than you should expect. The hookups (mostly 30A power, and water) are convenient, and functioned properly. The many bathrooms and showers (each has a washer and a dryer) were clean (the moldy shower curtain present my first night was exchanged for a new one the next day without my prompting) with plenty of hot water. This is a large State Park that sits between the Tomoka River, and the Halifax River so if you have a kayak or canoe (the small store on site also has rentals) this would be a good spot for you
