Terrific Market

The largest Farmers Market in the southeast United States, with over 170 vendors rotating through 135 spaces. An extraordinary selection of prepared food, great crafts, plants, flowers, and more. A wonderful selection of produce straight from the farm, including 2 large organic farms. Be sure to come hungry - we have 13 countries and styles of ready-to-eat food (e.g. French, German, Italian, Belgian, Indian, Thai, Ethiopian, Ecuadorian, Mexican, Jamaican, BBQ, Soulfood and more!) Live music and a variety of entertainers every week. Lots of tables to hang out and enjoy the great sense of community. Come see what many people say is the best thing to ever happen in St Petersburg. The Market runs from October - May. (9am - 2pm) The smaller nearby Williams Park Summer Market runs from June - August (9am - 1pm)

One of the Nicest Farmers Markets!
We spent the better part of the morning exploring this very large farmers market, which also has a good number of artist booths. The farm fresh produce looked amazing and all of the food booths smelled great. There is also very nice live music, and this is all right by the water. So, definitely a must visit for us the next time we visit.

    Lots of fun for gazing
I always love open markets, and the one on Saturday downtown St. Pete did not disappoint. A fair warning to the wise – it got very hot for us, and since much of the market is situated directly on the hardtop, be prepared to swelter. But when we went, it was a lot of fun hopping from stand to stand, checking out crafts, specialty foods, frozen drinks, and various ethnic meals. Irish music was on tap that morning, so there was plenty of excitement in the air. Compared to a typical “marché” in Europe, the St. Pete market is more of an open season “fair” than a traditional place to purchase groceries. There were two or three vendors selling vegetables, including the largest one in the back supporting a line about 50 people deep. It might have been nice if the organizers had added more staples to the mix and less exotics, even though the latter was fun for the morning. As it stands, this venue felt more suitable for tourists and passersby than residents stocking up on local produce for the week.
