Nice, but don't expect San Antonio's - tips for visit
The Ft. Lauderdale Riverwalk is a very nice area strecthing along the meandring New River, as well the tiny isles spread in the Bay. There are several ways to discover it. You can explore it on foot on a nice pathway with many benches along to rest and admire the scenery of high rise condos, as well the historic Stranahan house. Much better way is doing that from water and here you have two options. More economic, in fact the free one is water trolley, but beware, it's a small boat allowing only around 15 passengers, so on a sunny day like ours you could wait for your spot up to 2 hrs. If that's the case I suggest collecting your tickets from the shore attendant and exploring on foot while waiting your turn. Another option is a water taxi, but it cost $20+ so it's a significant expense for a family. The advantage here you can hop on and off at any of its, I think 10+ stations. There's a reduced fare after 5 PM if I remember correctly. The Riverwalk is really nice, it's Florida at its best with multi million homes and yachts to be seen around, but don't expect romantic and secluded waterways of San Antonio Riverwalk which, I must admit, left a stronger impression on me two years ago.

Beautiful and Quiet
If you are waiting for the Cheesecake Factory to open just turn left and go down to the walkway by the river. It is very quiet and beautiful and you are able to admire huge boats of all types. The tour boat is right there also. They seem to do the tour every couple of hours. Unfortuneatley like everywhere, there are a few homeless men handing around. Just be aware of them. There are many dog walkers in the area. This a is beautiful area of quiet.
