Bucket list alert! We have done this before and at the wrong time of year........did we 180 it this time! Cold snap in January meant we were in a good pecking order for a good day with the big boys and girls of Crystal River. Bucket list absolutely complete. Megan and Emerson led our private premium heated houseboat tour (worth every penny if you hate the crowds and just the general folk who have zero respect for the manatees and just want the best selfies). They were honest and caring about our experience on the boat and Megan caught a good few pictures and videos for us taking the stress off us documenting what was a great morning. The first congregrated spot was a little overwhelming and for some swimmers it can be a bit scary, more because other people are kinda selfish and don’t care about others or the manatees well being for that matter. Do be warned of this as the River Ventures crew kept us in check and we knew to leave some manatees alone when they were just breathing etc. Irrespective of the odd crowded areas here Megan guided us and we had numerous beautiful peaceful ‘floats’ amongst the inquisitive sea cows and it was simply life changing. They took us to quieter spot on the bay where no one bothered and because of the temperature this delivered some of the sweetest manatee interactions we will probably never have the pleasure of experiencing again. Absolutely would repeat this experience at the cost because honestly the first tour of the morning is so beautiful with the sunrise and everything being so fresh. It was surreal and calm. What I like about River Ventures is they do care and don’t want people horsing about and ruining what joyous chances we have with these gorgeous creatures. It’s made abundantly clear this is their ethos, and the last time in Homosassa we found them the same many years back. If you are not a strong swimmer wouldn’t necessarily recommend going with the full face mask option over a snorkel as adjusting them mid float/swim is impossible when a little panicky and already a little water logged. Just a handy tip for those not confident in the water. Manatees don’t like people panicking too.....tis for the best. Written by the Wife for us both!

If I could give them 10 stars I would and here's why: * Outstanding customer service! My mom (who's 80) is mobility limited. I was concerned about booking the Manatee snorkel adventure for myself, with her as a ride along, because of her ability to access the pontoon. We went the day before the snorkel and chatted with Bruno at the front desk. He mad sure we received all the answers to our questions plus reassurance they would make it work for her. Not only did they fulfill their word, they went above and beyond on the care they provided for her * The snorkel itself was beyond any expectation I had! Shanna was my snorkel instructor as well as photographer who made sure that my experience was one I would always remember. We spent over an hour with a mom manatee and her young pup with Shanna gently guiding me into the best position to stay connected with them both. The photos she took are wall hanging worthy! * Matt was our captain and he made sure that my mom was receiving attention while I was in the water. He shared stories, information and education on the area and the manatees. When I finished my snorkel, we still had a few minutes left so he took us on a quick tour of the area, pointing out areas of interest to keep my mom engaged. This company treated us as friends and at times like family. They really are THE Best!
