Do not Miss This Museum if You Are Near

I like museums that have brought in buildings from other parts of the country, or in this case, state that can reveal how the early settlers lived and worked. This museum is one of those, including an indoor museum with many displays and a very knowledgeable manager. There are a school, a church, a home, a doctor/dentist's office as well as a train station with locomotive and more. Of interest is an exhibit devoted to Black American educator Moore Mickens and to the baseball player, "Mudcat" Grant.

    Florida's history on display
This is a hidden gem! For all of us transplants to Florida... this is where you need to go to learn Florida's history. Associate Curator, Andy Warrener, is knowledgeable, articulate, and passionate about history, especially Florida's history and happy to share his knowledge with guests to the museum. Allow yourself at least a couple of hours to listen, look, and learn.

    Andy rocks !!
Met a curator named Andy. He was such a pleasure...polite, personal, a wealth of knowledge & obviously passionate about the areas history. Made my visit far more enjoyable & informative. The main museum if chock full of artifacts for any interest, tools, militaria, community live, farm life, the list go's on. I love history & felt very fortunate to spend almost three hours wandering the different buildings. Well worth a visit
