Camping at Ocean Pond

This is one beautifully setup campground, with electric & water sites, water only and primitive sites. Ocean Pond is very large with cypress trees and pine forest. Every site is very large with a lot on the Pond and privacy. There is a playground and beach and a boat ramp, I was able to launch my kayak from my site, as well as other sites. Fishing and boating are very popular and there are hiking trails. The Forest itself has other campgrounds and trails for horses, bikes and atvs. Just getting out on the kayak was a treat. Sunsets are fantastic. Overall highly recommended

    Update from last visit
Visited Hog Landing camp sites. These are primitive sites on the north side of Ocean Pond. All the sites were available. Yellow flies were out and fierce! Stopped by main campground. Half the sites are closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. No reservation system so it’s first come first served. Only nine sites available with water and electric. Those sites are $30.00 a night. Swimming area of beach was closed off for unknown reason.

    Beautiful
We stopped in Lake City on our way home to South Florida following a 28 day trip out West. What a beautiful relaxing place. We didn't hike the many trails as it was very hot the day we were there. You can drive through the area though and get a real feel for the place. It's so serene and pristine. We toured in the morning and saw wildlife and lots of birds. If you can see it in the early morning or at dusk, not the heat of the day. We saw very few cars while there. North Florida has an entirely different feel to it when compared with the South FL. area. Stop and learn, and appreciate what nature has to offer in this very special place.
