A suprising historical journey

Nestled in the heart of a modern downtown, History Fort Lauderdale's campus includes 3 museums that tell the story of how a wartime fort became a modern city. The campus is the largest collection of historic buildings remaining in Broward County. The History Museum, housed in the 1905 New River Inn, contains exhibits from prehistoric through present day. The Pioneer House Museum (1907) is set as if the family will return at any moment for Sunday supper. Upstairs tour Louise King's sewing room, family bedrooms with period sleepwear, children's room with period dollhouse and antique dolls. The 1899 Schoolhouse Museum is complete with period wooden desks and textbooks. Guided tours of all 3 museums begin every day at 1 PM, 2 PM and 3PM.

    Local Art
Fun adventure and beautiful local art upstairs. Loved seeing the history but the gem was definitely the art upstairs. The museum has a $10 tour fee, but the in house local artists area is completely free to visit and was my favorite part of the adventure.

A self guided tour through Fort Lauderdale history
Something to do in between events became more than a simple way to fill time. The museum was well thought out with different rooms displaying all sorts of historical events and people that contributed to Fort Lauderdale’s rich history. While tours were an option, we did the simple self guided tour. The atmosphere was friendly and educational with 3 floors showing displaying artifacts, documents and photos etc. Great place to spend and hour or 2 and would definitely recommend to someone new or visiting Fort Lauderdale!!
