Fun, relaxing, convivial, extensive wine tastings.
Fortunately, we just happened to arrive at the time of a testing. MANY wines were tasted, and a charcuterie plank was available for purchase as an accompaniment. The alcohol content of the wines is low, so tasting so many wines was not intoxicating. Sometimes we were given a choice of what to taste, and sometimes not. The experience was fun, partially due to the owner, partially due to the other tasters, among whom were some celebrating their birthdays, and partially due to the antics of a squirrel on a ledge outside the window behind the bar! There is a cozy, comfortable seating area where you can order wines to sip as you chat and unwind. The menu illustrates many wines, some fortified ports or sherries, many which were not part of the tasting experience but which were nicely photographed and described.

Surprisingly good
Late March is a very unsettled time in World history this year. 95% of businesses are closed and visitors have little to choose from for entertainment. On a day trip we, by chance, came upon this Winery. Inside the place, we settled right down at the bar for a tasting. Many varieties of blended fruit wines are available. At the end of the sampling we were given a frozen concoction using the Hurricane 50 wine and a lime mixer. WOW! Our tastebuds danced wildly! All of the flavored wines were so good that you might have trouble choosing only a few. The first five choices are tasting for free and only $5 more to sample five more. This Winery has many other things for sale besides wine. Finding this was serendipitous! I'll find my way back here soon.

A Wonderful Surprise
We are residents from the local beach community. Last holiday season we were given a certificate for tour, tasting and assorted gifts in a goodie bag. Due to the nasty virus, we waited a few months and finally went this afternoon. I had a grand time. Because I live in the community I already knew about the history of the building and it was nice to see that Florida Orange Groves Winery has done a great job in maintaining the structure. Nice group of people for the tasting and presented so well. BTW, if you need to purchase a gift for a foodie or wine lover, check out their gift shop. They have a number of great items and the prices are reasonable for such high quality. While this may not be a place a first time visitor to the area might go, folks that come to St. Pete Beach on a regular basis, this is a very nice way to spend an afternoon. And if you live in Pinellas County, and are looking for something special to do, check out Florida Orange Groves Winery in South Pasadena.
