A hidden gem
I read about Cortez village in the Englewood Sun newspaper. Visited with my friend today. The building is beautiful and the hidden garden delightful. The artifacts including shells, fish, boating equipment and pictures of historical events was brought to life by our docent. You really don't want to.miss this place. Go early and you can continue to the Cortez historical society building on the property. There are three great restaurants. Within walking distance of the museum.

Nice! If in area, stop in
Great volunteer, John, age 87, showed us around his former schoolhouse. (Grades 1-6) Explained a photo of his father & grandfather in fishing boat. I enjoyed his poem now on display. (Cool guy!) Check ahead for hours. I would allow at least 20 minutes. Textiles from artist that used building for studio. A former fisherman had his shell collection donated. Interesting little stop if in area.
