Florida maps plus Florida history books of all types
Val, the local historian, built this building and operates a must-see bookstore that sells all kinds of Florida maps - topo, historic, specialty - as well as rare and new books on Florida history. He has books on the Everglades, the railroads, the towns, the Native peoples, the animals, and every Florida subject you might like. Val is there weekdays until about 1 pm. You can call first, or just knock on the door and he will admit you. Val also is the publisher for many of the books written by prominent Florida authors. He is knowledgeable about every book and Florida history. A nice way to spend two hours in Hobe Sound!

A little Gem!!!
Just a little place, home-spun, with plenty of books you'll want to tote with you to the beach or pool if you're a fan of Florida and local history. The owner Val is a wonderful fellow, SO knowledgeable and pleasant- amazing things he knows about the area!! Books range from history, maps, cooking, novels, drama, short stories, treasure hunting, pirates... new books, old books, a little bit of a little bit of everything. Hours are sporadic- be sure to knock on the door, usually there most weekday mornings. It's a stop for us every time we're in town, just to see what's new & catch up on the changes in Florida and visit with charming Val!!
