Flamingo Adventures, Florida, United States

4.5 (10 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Flamingo Boat Tours • Boat Rentals

Excellent tour, informative, fun, interesting, affordable

We chose the 'backcountry' tour vs. the Florida Bay tour from flamingoeverglades.com. out of the Flamingo Marina on a pontoon boat. We are so glad we did. 1.5 hrs of cruising up the Buttonwood Canal as far as the Whitewater Bay. Our Captain Mark and our naturalist Carl worked so well together. Each had so much knowledge to share. We lost track of the number of crocodiles we saw - at least 8. Mark would reverse the boat so everyone had a good look. Carl was so passionate about the birds, trees, and plants and just generally the health and security of the entire Everglades. Only 18 of us on the boat affording tons of opportunity for sun or shade and to view out both sides of the boat. Lots of time to ask questions - we learned so much. A very professional outfit, mindful of all safety precautions. Must do in the Everglades Park.

    Nice brief naturalist tour
We took a 90 minute boat ride beginning at the docks near the Flamingo visitors center portion of the park. Easy to buy tickets ahead of time (or I think can buy on site as well). Our naturalist guide did a great job of showing us the fine details that could easily be overlooked if not already familiar with the area. The boat captain was an outstanding boat handler, minimizing rocking and pulling us up close to see things. The tour mostly explains the trees and related plants, birds of the area, a bit on alligators (if you're fortunate to see one along the way). They are stuck taking the same route back, so some parts are duplicate (i.e. only 2/3 or so of the trip is unique stuff). Price seemed very fair. I would definitely recommend the tour if in the area.

    Wonderful Houseboat Adventure
This was an awesome way to see the Everglades! Just like camping, but on the water. I was nervous that I would get lost or struggle to drive the boat. I was just like driving my pontoon from home and with the provided map and GPS it would be pretty difficult to get lost. The boat was clean, the staff gave good information and guidance. No hot water for the shower, but that just encouraged us to conserve water since you are a little limited. We stayed 2 nights and only used half the water and half the gas provided. Getting to wake up each morning to an open sunrise and go to bed each night to a perfectly positioned sunset was amazing! If you like camping, you’ll love this adventure. If you don’t like camping, it will still be great, just a bit “rustic”.
