A correction of a previous review
After speaking with the General manager we got everything agreed upon. I have always loved this course to play on. Wide fairways are always a great help, and the course is kept in excellent condition. Great Tiki Bar for a beer later and a great hamburger for $11.

In great shape
One of the newer golf courses in the Sarsota/Bradenton area, and you can tell it was well built. Surprisingly, the club house is lame, in which I'm assuming is temporary. Don't let it stop you from playing the course though. The only beef I have with them, is that their rates are not competitive with the surrounding courses for us local players (25%-30% higher).

Beautifully conditioned and laid out course, but not all that welcoming
I played Esplanade with a regular golf partner while on holiday in Sarasota. The course itself is in extremely good condition and very challenging. However, the overall experience left something to be desired. First of all, the green fees are high (nearly $100) and for that you don't even get a GPS in the cart. Secondly, the surroundings of the course are a construction zone, which distracts from the outdoors experience. Finally, we ran into an officious marshall who chastised us for slow play even though the group behind us was not being held up. His attitude was enough to convince me never to come back to this course. I've not golfed in Sarasota before this year, but have visited Orlando regularly for the past several years and know there are many courses there that offer equal quality for the same or lower prices and are much more accommodating to visitors.
