Ellenton Ice and Sports rink, Florida, United States

Only real ice skating for miles

We're from Sarasota and this is the only place to ice skate I know of. The rinks are very nice, and there are four full rinks. The bathrooms ... oh my... They reek. It appears kids took wet toilet paper and got it stuck on the ceiling and it's been there awhile. Smells worse than a truck stop bathroom. Wanted to hold my breath the whole time. I guess this is what a hockey locker room smells like? Ventilate and fumigate please!

    Disappointing, consistently
This facility seems to have a lot of potential; however, the maintenance and overall upkeep is poor. I've also heard concerns regarding the lack of implementing a safer environment. This below par atmosphere is accelerated with the poor customer service and the managements' inability to train properly and make a positive experience for customers, so as a parent it's a struggle to make this place worth the time and effort. Granted, it’s the only ice rink game in town unless you want to travel over an hour North or South - so you’re stuck, and it seems the management is complacent with this 'held hostage' position and continually delivering a poor product and service with the attitude: 'oh well, then go somewhere else...’

Run Down, Does the purpose of Ice Skating Rink
This place, unfortunately, is the only ice skating rink in the Ellenton, Bradenton, Parrish, Lakewood Ranch vicinity. If you want to ice skate this is the only place for those who live nearby to go. The place is run down, the roof has a leak, where the rain leaks onto the ice rink, making it hazardous for skaters. Everything about this place is run down, it looks like a dump, the store has boxes everywhere nothing is quite set up, looks like they were setting up but never managed to get the store to look like a store, instead it looks like a storage unit. It looks old, run-down, roof issues, landscaping horrible, the building needs a good paint job or power wash, inside needs a paint job and cleaning. It is just not inviting for those visiting the area. There need to be rules set on the wall for the skaters to know how to have courtesy and respect for other skaters on the ice. Bleachers and skaters boxes are dirty, nasty and not well kept. The service is okay. The instructors are awesome. But the whole establishment needs better tending to, especially if you have other rinks coming here to compete and other establishments are well kept and clean. I'd visited the ice skating rink in Wesley Chapel, it looks like an ice skating rink, clean, well kept, and professional. I wish Ellenton would follow Wesley Chapels Ice Skating Rink way of business, believe me, more people would visit and keep on visiting if they did. I'm not trying to knock the Ellenton Ice Rink, I just want the owners to at least try to improve a business that is truly worth improving.
