Had a great day at Hollywood Studios, overall, but unhappy with new ride system.
Lightening Lane is a joke but we didn’t let it ruin our day. We tried to buy Lightening Lane for Rise of the Resistance after watching so many Youtubers review it, we chose not to use Genie Plus as it is apparently a waste of time and money. We signed in at 7:00 to buy our ride pass and got a message that only Disney hotel guests were eligible to buy it. At 9:00 I finally got the time and it was up to 5:00. Clicked to pay and got error messages that it couldn’t process and then a sold out message. I was not happy. This was the only reason we purchased park tickets for this particular park. I tried again about 30 mins later and it showed 7:55 time slot. The exact same thing happened it wouldn’t process the payment and then a sold out message. We decided to take our chances as we couldn’t cancel our tickets for another day due to their 24 hr notice policy. We ended up waiting 120 mins in the rain to ride RoTR but it was worth it. Having knocked that out early in the day we had the rest of the day to take our time and enjoy the rest of the park. The torrential downpour keep attendance lower and most things ended up being walk on to 15 min wait at best. Overall it was a great day, but I do not agree with their Lightening Lane policy for guests. We paid the exact same amount for our tickets as resort guests. We just shared a rental with another family so we couldn’t stay on site this time. I feel like the purchases should be open to everyone until sold out. Resort guests already get early park admission. It seems like Disney only benefits those that can afford to spend the maximum amount of money on site and that wasn’t an option for us this trip. I will come back but will not waste any more effort on Genie Plus and or Lightening Lanes.

Got there early close to opening, and came during the week, less crowded. We really enjoyed the atmosphere the this park and of the different areas. Starwars area was our favourite. Planning can be a bit stressful but taking the time before hand to look at restaurants, drinks and attraction options is always helpful. Make reservations if you are able and have some extra money to support for cutting lines at rides etc. is very helpful. Fun for the whole family.
