Colonel Herrmann's Royal Lipizzan Ranch, Florida, United States

4.5 (166 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Myakka City Horseback Riding Tours

Amazing horsemanship

I feel like this attraction is a hidden gem. I visited over 25 years ago and again two weeks ago and was amazed at the beauty of the horses and riders. The show I attended was the last of this season. Shows resume after Christmas. The show was narrated by Rebecca, a sixth generation family member. Her 13 year old daughter also participates. The arena has bleachers and you can also bring your own chairs. You can visit the horse stalls before and after the show to get up close to the horses. This is a must see show.

    Majestic Talented Horses
No wonder the Austrian royalty loved them. See years of breeding in action. Rebecca, 6th generation of Herrmann not only narrates the show, she is an excellent rider, probably playing a greater role since her mom died less than a year ago. Her 13 year old daughter is already a master horsewoman. You can tell the horses are loved and treated so well, with a treat after every performance in the arena. Fascinating to see the horses special gait and ballet and learn their history. Thankful they survived WWII. Loved the music. This is not commercialized at all, but a glimpse into a royal breed performance.

    Magnificent horses
Went to the show on Saturday. Plenty of parking. We paid $10/person, age 10 and under are free to see the show. The arena is surrounded by bleachers, some are in the sun so bring a hat. We brought chairs that we put in the shade. The show was great, showcasing these magnificent horses and telling the history of the horses in Europe and how they came with the Herrmann family to Florida. Afterwards you can visit them in the barn. There is food for sale if you get hungry. No restrooms, only port-a-pottys. Show lasted about 1.5 hrs; we enjoyed it.
