Canaveral National Seashore, Florida, United States

4.5 (27 reviews) Spent Ranking #17 in New Smyrna Beach National Parks

Don’t miss this gem

One of the most beautiful pristine places I have ever visited in my life. As we drove through the park we were pretty much alone. We kept wondering when we were going to see other cars at one point we stopped and in the lagoon or lake that’s on the opposite side of the ocean we saw a huge alligator. We don’t see those too often in Illinois lol actually they don’t have them in Illinois. So that was really something for us to experience. The $20 that you pay to go into the park is well worth it. The beaches are absolutely beautiful and basically untouched. We will definitely go again on our next trip to Florida. My two oldest grandchildren 14 and 17 loved it.

    If you love the beach...
If you love going to the beach, then you must go here. Canaveral National Seashore is part of the National Park System, and a beautiful place to visit. Please note, that parking here is extremely limited! The parking lots fill up quickly and the park will limit inbound traffic once the lots reach capacity. There, you have been warned! However, when you get into the park, you will quickly see why this park is so popular. The Atlantic shore has some of the most beautiful beach sand I have ever seen. It's soft, and sometimes walking through it can be a challenge. Likewise, the areas near the parking lots sometimes have a high percentage of people fishing. Just move up or down the beach a little and you will have your own little piece of heaven. There is a visitor center that you can visit. We have not gone here so I can't comment on that. Likewise, there is a boat ramp allowing access to the inter coastal side of the park. Again I have not used this feature but for those with a small boat, jet ski or other small craft should look into using this. A few more things to note: Unless you have a National Parks Pass, I believe you are charged $10 per car to enter the park. At times, the park it totally closed depending on launch activity at the cape which is several miles south of this location. There are signs at the southern end of the park warning beach goers of "clothing optional" areas. You have been warned

A nice drive to a pristine Florida.
This is a drive inside a national park so there is a park entrance fee for your vehicle. It is a 6 mile drive from the north entrance to the turnaround at parking lot 6. There are 6 main parking lots along the Atlantic ocean side numbered from 1-6 (north to south). Parking lot 6 leads to clothing optional part of the beach. All other beaches are not clothing optional. Off River road (on the west side of the road about 1 mile inside the park entrance) there are more parking lots (parking lots 7 and above) that lead to the river or trails. There is a visitor’s center and turtle mound walk also on the west of the road. The drive is pleasant but there are not many sights to see from the car. There are several sites to stop and see along the way like those listed above. It is a very nice park and the Atlantic ocean water color is beautiful.
