Loved this place.. amazing architecture and time capsule

Ca' d'Zan is a venue of The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. Visit ringling.org to purchase a tour. The home of the circus king and his wife, a couple from humble mid-western origins, Ca’ d’Zan stands as a testament to the American Dream of the Roaring Twenties. Inspired by the Venetian Gothic style of the palazzos that ring the Venice canals, this dazzling palatial mansion perfectly captures the splendor and romance of the Italy the Ringlings so loved. The grounds are spectacular!
This is a must do on your visit to the area. If you only visit the grounds ($5 admission, or free on Mondays) you'll enjoy the trip. The art museum is amazing and the circus museum is very interesting. The best are the banyon trees and the view of Sarasota bay from the home that John Ringling built.

One part of the Ringling museum complex
We visited the Ringling including the house (Ca d'Zan (House of John) and the other three museums. The house can be visited on your own, or on a paid guided tour of floors 1 and 2, or another tour of the upper floors. Seeing the whole house is quite expensive. We took the tour of floors 1 and 2, lasting about 45 minutes. The house, the setting, the furnishings are all very impressive. Some of the furnishings and architectural elements came from other famous estates. John Ringling was a major collector (as you see in the art museum). The house also gives a glimpse into the world of John and Mabel Ringling, who were major contributors to building Sarasota. The kitchen looked too small for a such a large house and very large dining room. The 2nd floor bedrooms are interesting in their layout and furnishings.
