Boyett's Grove, Florida, United States

Funky, Fun, Old time Florida at its best! Something for everyone can be found here.

This was a family citrus farm established in the 1960s. When the citrus groves were destroyed by freezes and citrus greening, the family expanded the fruit processing buildings to become a maze of old Florida artifacts, mini golf, a souvenir shops with citrus sales, a petting zoo, bird aviary and an aquarium room. There’s even a 3D room and dinosaurs displayed in cavern rooms. We search for remnants of Old Florida and were thrilled to stumble on this - still operated by some of the family members who are happy to share the history. Your kids and grandkids will love you if you stop here.

    Interesting outing
We passed a sign while picking up my granchild and decided to do a family outing after Christmas. The building outside was dated yet intriguing. Once inside no one greeted us, a sign sent us to the back of the gift shop. We bought one bag of food for our group, it wasn't clear which food was for which animal. While in the reptile area it was very cold, we're not sure one of the lizards was actually alive (?), but the taxidermy animals were pretty cool. There was some history worked into the "tour". once outside there were lots of trails and doors to follow to the "dinosaur cave" and animal zoo. there was an old parrot outside, he was shivering but he ate out of our hands. The bunnies and guinea pigs were outdoors (?) A monkey seemed sad or distant. There were pigs, zebras, llama, alpacas, bunnies, etc and the funniest camel who smiled. the kids enjoyed feeding the animals, we felt like most people didn't know when or what to feed the animals so the first leg of the journey most were passed by. i guess the animals are being taken care of (? ) they generally seemed friendly. it was very dark in the aviary, but one bird said hello as we passed! There were a few fish tanks and cool fossil things. For the price it was a fun outing, would we go back? Probably not.

So strangely fun you can't look away
My 10 year old described this as the highlight of his day, or in his words. Epic. Indeed, this roadside oddity is truly in a class of it's own. We saw the gift shop with the old, dusty relics, stuffed animals and candies of yore, then paid to see the animals. But wait! You ticket includes a tour of taxidermied creatures, "3D art" and the dinosaur cave. Which I say the dinosaur thing in it's better life belonged in a childrens museum somewhere because it was pretty cool and the boys loved it. Then, we were escorted to door #1( really) and then given loose guidelines and directives to visit and feed the rest of the animals on the property. Let me just say this place is A LOT bigger than it looks with many things to see. It was hot but we took our time walking the enclosures to see it all. You get pretty up close to zebra, lemurs, horses, pigs, goats, rabbits, monkeys, alpaca, fish and birds just to name a few. This place is truly strange, but oddly satisfying. Not really where I'd go for ice cream *(kinda meh here), but go for the nostalgia and the amazement of just how much effort it must have taken to create this place! Truly one of a kind!
