Best beer place in Vrijdagsmarkt area
Very nice selection of beers, fair prices and a multitude of seating choices. Service is impeccable. Come here for a quick beer, a pub crawl or just a fun night out, but when in Ghent, must visit!

Amazing beer place
I happened into this place while walking around Gent. I was with a couple friends looking for a nice place to drink an excellent Belgian beer after long hours of walking. We were very lucky, De Trollekelder is perfect. The guy tending the bar knows a lot about beer and was nice enough to walk us through a few recommendations. The beers we had were not pricey and probably the best I have since in Belgium, and that is a tall order. I had a St. Bernard #8 and the local Golden Draken, both amazing. But, really, there are so many surely there is something for everyone's taste. The place inside is really nice too, beautifully decorated and walking the fine line between vibrant, and also nice and quiet enough to have a beer and enjoy it well. I will surely come back whenever I am in Gent.
