Remarkable Gothic Hall at Stadhuis

Bruges' City Hall (1376) is one of the oldest in the Low Countries. It is from here that the city has been governed for more than 600 years. An absolute masterpiece is the Gothic Hall, with its late 19th-century murals and polychrome vault. The adjoining historic hall calls up the city council's history with a number of authentic documents and works of art. A multimedia exhibition on the ground floor illustrates the evolution of the Burg Square.

    Exquisite building
Situated in the Burg, the Stadhuis has a stunning exterior. You can enter the entrance hall for free, but to view the interior of the building incurs an entrance charge. On the Saturday we visited, the building was closed for a wedding, so we admired the external Gothic architecture. Worth a trip - it’s an exquisite building.

    To explore the murals
The building is impressive outside, and you can also visit inside. You can enter the foyer for free, but it’s nothing to see there. There is a big hall on the first floor with beautiful murals around the walls. It is included into the Bruges museum card, so if you have one, it’s worth to explore the murals, otherwiseI wouldn’t pay 7 EUR for the entrance.
