Fantastic day
We booked the trip through Chris who walks along the beach at Ambre, I booked after reading the reviews on here and was not disappointed. Our captain was Arlo who kept the rum n coke flowing nicely, he was great with the banter, tunes, knowledge of the area. We were lucky enough to feed the monkeys, saw dolphins and a huge sea turtle. Was a great group of guests ending with a fab BBQ on the beach including more rum n coke or as Arlo calls it coffee! Definitely recommend

Best Day of our Holiday. Awesome ?
While staying at Ambre Mauritius, my wife and I heard lots of people talking about how good the 5 island tour organised by Chris was. Chris is always around the hotels selling his tour so we spoke with him. He organised tours using his 9 boats. The boats hold up to 12 people at a time but we opted to pay more to have the boat to ourselves on New Year’s Day to see the new year in with a special treat. We were picked up in the morning from the hotel and taken to the harbour to board the boat (15 min drive from Ambre). Upon arrival we were introduced to our guide and boat driver for the day Andy. Andy had pretty good English speaking skills but also spoke Italian along with his native tongue (Creole). What a day we had, inclusive in the price was a never ending supply of Vanilla Rum and Soft Drinks (you can request beer if that’s your preference), the rum was amazing, Andy told us how it was made. We also had lunch on Ile Aux Serfs, a lunch of Lobster, Chicken, Fish, rice and vegetables with a large bottle of beer (other drinks were available). Andy first showed us some of the really plush hotels on the coast and then sped off at full speed to the Coral reef for some snorkelling, after that we went to an island that is home to a nature reserve. You have to book and pay extra to go on the island (about £4 each) but we did not go on because it was closed being New Year’s Day. We also went to lighthouse island and had some time exploring the island. Highlight of our day was when you get to Grand River South East to go to the waterfalls. Be sure to take plenty of bread and fruit as on the way up river to the falls, we stopped to feed the wild monkeys. This was the highlight of our day, the monkeys hung from the trees and climbed into the boat to take fruit and bread from our hands, one mother and baby monkey were so cute and it brought happy tears to my wife’s eyes. After that, along to the waterfalls before heading back out to see to do some more snorkelling and then heading to ile aux serfs for food. This trip put the icing on the cake of our wonderful trip to Mauritius and we were so glad that we booked it for the 2 of us privately…..the tours are a little more rigid in format when sharing with others. When done privately, you can opt to miss things out or stay at other places longer etc. for the private day (approx 6hrs) we paid 18000 Rupees (£330) but it was worth every penny. Andy our guide / driver was fantastic and please, if staying in the hotels at Bel Mare, seek out Chris and book……
