Flat paved trail ; tree snails

This is a stop on the road to Flamingo and is worth a 1/2 hour. It’s a completely different ecosystem and although there are no alligators there are several different plant species and an area where you can see different types of tree snails which you don’t see in other areas. Definitely worth a stop. We spent about 1/2 hour exploring the area - if you just quickly walk through the paved trail area you will miss many things so walk slow and look at the trees.

See a Different Side of the Everglades
Pinelands Trail is a half-mile paved trail through a pinelands ecosystem. Unlike much of the Everglades, this area is heavily forested and dry. So you won't see alligators here and you're more likely to hear than see birds. But it's a nice easy hike to see a different side of the Everglades. Tree snails are common around here, the "jewels of the Everglades". And we also saw a huge golden orb weaver spider here as well. Definitely worth a quick stop to check it out. The pull-off is about 7 miles from the main entrance at Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center and a couple miles past Royal Palm.

    No alligators here
Judging by some of the other reviews I think the writers have confused the Pineland Trail with Anhinga at Royal Palms. There is nb water here so it is unlikely you would see any alligators. We did see two interesting lizards, first a Brown Anole then a Green Anole, which are native to this area. We also saw giant snails on the pine trees. If you have 30 minutes I think this trail is interesting but if you are short on time, focus on the Anhinga trail where the wildlife is more varied and abundant.
