Great fishing trip!
Our 6th time to the lodge and another home run! Didn’t recognize the place ($300,000 remodel just completed). Absolutely fabulous! If you are tired of just being a number then go to this boutique lodge. Just like “Cheers” everybody knows your name from waitstaff to airport pickup & especially Eric the owner. Most importantly the fishing was fabulous! 3 Blue Marlin (biggest 400 lbs), lots of sails & countless dorado up to 40 lbs. Last but not least we always take advantage of Eric’s fluent English tour guide (Santiago) for at least a day tour of Antigua or another cultural place. Guatemala has a ton of history so we always take advantage of it. There are no “smoke & mirrors “ involved here. Big Buoy offers trips for 1/2 the price of other lodges and over delivers. Big Bouy Fishing
6 of us fished with Big Bouy on the Typhoon and Sur-Reel from February 9th to 12th with one day off. We stayed at the lodge and they provided all the transportation to and from airport, marina and local town on our day off. Eric has hired fantastic crews and support staff. We caught lots of fish each day, then enjoyed the pool and spectacular meals in the evening. Captain Coco, Pedro and Omar on the Sur-reel worked together to provide a experience that will not be forgotten. When 1,2 or 3 reels started screaming at once their communication between them was a treat to watch. Fresh fruit in the morning, making sashimi for an appetizer, grilled fresh caught mahi mahi burgers for lunch and a cooler with all kinds of beer and water on the boat. All the while putting out lines, watching teasers, cleaning mahi-mahi, switching out mangled baits and trying to teach me Spanish lol. We’ll be returning to puerto San Jose to fish with Eric and his staff (who he refers to as family) in the very near future. 43 sailfish 21 mahi mahi 1 blue marlin 250#

Best Deep Sea Fishing of My Life - Will go back!!!!
This was the best fishing experience I have ever had. Captain Kennedy and Mates did an excellent job to make sure we were on top of fish for the whole day's worth of fishing. I have Deep Sea Fished throughout my life and never knew anything existed like this in the world. We caught 15 sailfish, 2 Marlin (one that weighed 400 lbs.) and 3 Mahi Mahi. It was non-stop action on the boat. The whole team did not take a single break. They also love fishing and it shows. I just can't say enough good things about this company. I will recommend them to anyone interested in having the best Deep Sea Fishing experience of their life!
