    How to get tickets!
How to get tickets, because I was confused too. 30 days before you want to visit they will open at 8am. If you don’t get it THAT DAY (30 days before) you will have to wait until the DAY BEFORE you want to go. The day BEFORE you want to visit they will release a set of tickets (85 the day we looked) at 8am and again at 11am. Create your account before the 8am or 11am drop time. At 8 or 11 be logged into your account and ready, within 1 minute 10 tickets were gone already for me. The 8am ticket means you get the early entry time and the 11am ticket means you get the later entry time. But you can stay until the park closes for either ticket (5:30?) and the lady at the desk said you can still come earlier than 11am, they aren’t that strict. There is a small Visitor center, Portal to the forest I think they call it that you do not need that ticket for, it is 8$/adult and free for kids under 15. We just pulled up and did that they day of. Short hike. Food. Info. Endangered birds! Each car needs a ticket. It’s 2$. Good luck.

    Accidental but very pleasing Discovery
We had visited El Yunque and heard that there were some caged Puerto Rican Parrots at the entrance to the park that sometimes get "visited" by wild birds. We wanted to see both. We did not know this was a full fledged Education Center until we entered--- using our National Parks pass. The center has the look and feel of an open air cathedral. It is kept spotless and the informational signage , in both English and Spanish, is quite interesting. Best of all the path that winds around the center is delightful. Surrounded by nature, the path's "walls" are a comprised of a wide variety of plants and trees that are full of birds. The gift shop is well inventoried though it would have been more appreciated if a guide book on Puerto Rican birds were available in the many nice items offered for sale. This place is a gem and all those who contributed to its creation as well as those involved in is maintenance are to be commended for their vision and dedication.
